Ursus Breweries appoints new President: Andrew Highcock replacing Gary Whitlie
Gary Whitlie, the President of Ursus Breweries, has decided to retire from professional activity after 27 years spent within SABMiller Group, in a variety of senior positions. Andrew Highcock is appointed as President of Ursus Breweries, effective 1st November 2011.
With his extensive experience and knowledge of the beer market, Mr. Whitlie joined the Romanian division of SABMiller group in June 2010 and contributed to the successful evolution of the company's brands portfolio. "I enjoyed the challenge of working in the competitive Romanian beer market and having the opportunity to take part in important projects here, to have worked with outstanding professional people and with such wonderful, genuine Romanian beer brands", declared Gary Whitlie.
Succeeding Gary Whitlie as President of Ursus Breweries, Andrew Highcock joins Ursus Breweries from Pivovary Topvar, SABMiller' business in Slovakia, where he has been Managing Director for the past 2 years. During his time in Slovakia, Mr. Highcock has led the development of a strong brand portfolio, with very good growth in the premium and super premium segments.
Before joining SABMiller group, Andrew held various leadership positions, such as President for Canada and Managing Director for Southeastern Europe of Maxxium Worldwide (global spirits company, with brands such as Absolut Vodka and Remy Martin). Previously he worked for Diageo in France, UK and Central Europe, in different positions in sales, marketing and general management.
