Ukraine not to activate export sales of wheat – Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation
The United States Department of Agriculture reduced the forecast of wheat exports from Ukraine in its December report from the level of 8 mln tonnes to 7 mln tonnes, leaving unchanged the export volumes of Ukrainian maize (12 mln tons) and barley (4.4 mln tonnes). According to Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation, the USDA figures for wheat exports from Ukraine in the realities of the world markets can most likely be regarded as potential resource opportunities. Experts of the Confederation point out that basing on the actual rates of wheat exports in recent months (in October - 250 thsd tonnes, in November - 380 thsd tonnes, the first ten days of December - 200 thsd tonnes), Ukraine are almost twice as lagging behind the marked rate (7 mln tonnes) of the marketing year. Thus, there are no prerequisites for enhancing of the export sales, stated Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation. According to analysts of APK-Inform Agency, the export volumes of wheat from Ukraine in 2011/12 MY may reach the level of 9 mln tonnes
