U.S. Beer Consumption Down Among Core Brands
A surge in the micro beer business is one factor for the decline in America's consumption of the national brands, like Anheuser-Busch. That's what the Beverage Information Group is saying in its 2011 report. U.S. beer consumption among the core brands has declined for the fourth year in a row, losing two percent of the market this year. The group attributes that to an increased taste for micro beer and high unemployment rates among the folks who drink say Bud or Coors Light. While Oregon produces more micro beer than any other state, over 700 new breweries are currently going up across the country.
