Trouble is coming up for the Russian beer industry
Alcohol abuse has long been a chronic problem of Russian society. And the government has now decided to step up its campaign to tackle the issue by proposing to increase the excise duty on beer by a whopping 200 per cent next year, and by a further 10 per cent and 20 per cent in 2011 and 2012 respectively.

22.05.12 - Ukraine is seeking to reach agreement with Saudi Arabia on supplying as much as 4 million metric tons of barley to the Middle East country, Agriculture Minister Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said. Saudi officials will arrive in Ukraine next month to discuss an accord, Prysyazhnyuk said in a statement e-mailed yesterday. [more]
