Stella Artois, Budweiser and Beck's with less alcohol down to save duties
Stella Artois, Budweiser and Beck's will be drop from five per cent to 4.8 per cent at the end of this month in line with 'evolving trends', said brewer AB InBev. But the company also stands to save millions in duty and costs with the reduction, according to industry magazine The Grocer. Last October, AB InBev said it would be forced to raise prices following an increase in the cost of energy and raw materials. However, according to industry insiders, the proposed price hike was rejected by some retailers, forcing the brewer to increase profitability in other ways.
