SABMiller to build $16m malting plant in Uganda
SABMiller's Ugandan subsidiary, Nile Breweries Ltd, is to build a malting plant on the back of a successful initiative to convert locally grown barley into brewing malt. Construction will start in January 2010 on Nile Breweries' existing site in Jinja, and is expected to be completed towards the end of the year.

Ukraine Seeks 4 Million-Ton Barley Agreement With Saudi Arabia
22.05.12 - Ukraine is seeking to reach agreement with Saudi Arabia on supplying as much as 4 million metric tons of barley to the Middle East country, Agriculture Minister Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said. Saudi officials will arrive in Ukraine next month to discuss an accord, Prysyazhnyuk said in a statement e-mailed yesterday. [more]
