SAB Miller with higher volumes and revenue
SAB Miller has reported a 5% growth in beer and soft drinks volumes for the first quarter to 30 June with a 7% increase in group revenue on an organic basis. The London-listed brewer, which distributes Peroni, Pilsner Urquell, Tyskie and Miller Genuine Draft in the UK, saw lager volumes up 5% across Europe with continued growth in the UK market. In Europe, Poland volumes were up 4% and Russia up 11% compared to a weak quarter last year. There were also “significantly” higher volumes in the Ukraine but marginally lower in Italy and the Netherlands. In its other markets, lager volumes were up 6% in Latin America, 15% in Africa, 11% in Asia and level in South Africa.

22.05.12 - Ukraine is seeking to reach agreement with Saudi Arabia on supplying as much as 4 million metric tons of barley to the Middle East country, Agriculture Minister Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said. Saudi officials will arrive in Ukraine next month to discuss an accord, Prysyazhnyuk said in a statement e-mailed yesterday. [more]
