Japan Purchases 13,500 Tons of Food Barley in Tender
Japan bought 13,500 metric tons of food barley from Canada and Australia in a tender today, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries said in a statement. Of the total, 7,500 tons was from Canada and the remaining volume was from Australia for beer production, it said. The tender was held under the so-called simultaneous buy- and-sell system, in which food makers and trading companies jointly bid for grains of any origin and quality.

22.05.12 - Ukraine is seeking to reach agreement with Saudi Arabia on supplying as much as 4 million metric tons of barley to the Middle East country, Agriculture Minister Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said. Saudi officials will arrive in Ukraine next month to discuss an accord, Prysyazhnyuk said in a statement e-mailed yesterday. [more]
