GB: Spring barley newcomer Propino finding favour with maltsters
While Tipple and, to a lesser extent, Quench, continue to dominate the English malting barley scene, a relative newcomer is finding favour with maltsters and could soon be giving established varieties a run for their money. Propino, from Syngenta Seeds, could take 10% of the English spring barley area in 2011, says the company's malting barley development manager Simon Phillips.

Ukraine Seeks 4 Million-Ton Barley Agreement With Saudi Arabia
22.05.12 - Ukraine is seeking to reach agreement with Saudi Arabia on supplying as much as 4 million metric tons of barley to the Middle East country, Agriculture Minister Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said. Saudi officials will arrive in Ukraine next month to discuss an accord, Prysyazhnyuk said in a statement e-mailed yesterday. [more]
