Czech brewer Budejovicky Budvar reports 7.8 pct boost in exports
State-owned Czech brewery Budvar, which has been fighting a long legal battle with American brewer Anheuser-Busch over the use of the “Budweiser” brand, says its 2011 exports rose by 7.8 percent to reach a record high. Budejovicky Budvar NP says it exported more than 650,000 hectoliters (17.17 million gallons) of beer to some 60 countries last year, the best result in 116 years. Overall Czech beer production was expected to grow by around 1 percent in 2011.

22.05.12 - Ukraine is seeking to reach agreement with Saudi Arabia on supplying as much as 4 million metric tons of barley to the Middle East country, Agriculture Minister Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said. Saudi officials will arrive in Ukraine next month to discuss an accord, Prysyazhnyuk said in a statement e-mailed yesterday. [more]
