Brewer SABMiller up on higher profits
Brewing giant SABMiller reported a 15% rise in six-month profit on Thursday, buoyed by volume growth in Africa and Asia, though the firm cautioned that consumer spending remains subdued. The brewer posted a net profit of $1.12 billion for the six months ended Sept. 30, up from $973 million in the same period a year ago. Group revenue increased 7% to $14.24 billion, boosted by higher sales volumes and price increases taken in the prior year.
