Beer factory in Mozambique studies possibility of using cassava
Mozambican beer manufacturer, Cervejas de Moçambique (CdM) is studying the possibility of using cassava to make beer at its Nampula factory in order to reduce its costs from importing raw materials, said the Agricultural director of Nampula province. José Varimelo told Mozambican newspaper Notícias that his department and those responsible for the factory were studying the possibility of producing cassava in the province and were seeking producers with capacity to supply raw materials in large quantities. The Nampula factory of Cervejas de Moçambique, a subsidiary of multinational group SABMiller, started operating at the beginning of the year, following an investment of US$50 million and annually produces 480,000 hectolitres of beer.
