A-B InBev plans global responsible-drinking push
Anheuser-Busch InBev NV is headed to bars, stores and other places where it might find beer drinkers worldwide to promote its new global responsible drinking efforts, the world's largest brewer said Thursday. The company has long had a number of efforts in place to discourage the abuse of alcohol but said this is its first set of global goals for the company's responsible drinking programs. Anheuser-Busch InBev said that, among other things, it will provide educational material to workers at least 500,000 bars, clubs, restaurants and grocery stores to help them properly check identification and prevent sales to minors. It is providing training to at least 1 million bartenders, waiters, grocery store clerks and others on responsible alcohol sales. And the brewer will invest at least $300 million in advertising and marketing efforts to push the importance of responsible drinking such as use of designated drivers and preventing drinking among minors.
